WHEELS & Tyres... How wide too wide for steering? Spare?
I would luv a fat set... found a few sellers at reasonable prices after a few months of steady homework.
But how wide is too wide for the front for steering? I want 4 wheels with 4 equivalent tyres so i can just have one spare... otherwise... i would have
to carry two? (any other solutions??) I would imagine having a 10 inch wide tyre on the front would be killer work trying to steer, let alone the
stresses on the components i spose.
If i'm going through the outback i don't wanna be left stuffed without a spare... but i dont know where i would put two large offroad spare
tyres...
But if there is a way around it, i would just have phat stuff on the back and some stock 15 inch steelies on the front or sumfin.

If you're going to have a Baja, you've got to go big up the back and smalls up front. As for spares, it really depends on the type of offroading
you're doing and for how long. If you're going offroad for a week, get yourself a roofrack and load up your small and large spare wheels on top. If
you're just going for a day trip, just carry a standard 165/15 spare to at least get you home.

Anthiron has a good size on the front of his baja,i think they were 215 wide, they are made by federal ,but alas you would need 5-5 1/2 inch rims on
the front

I agree that the whacky racer look as discussed on manx club isn't my cup of tea :P, and everyones running the skinner tyres on the front. i will
probably then stick to 215's on the front then. That was a very helpful link, i just became a member.
I already have a set of rims and tyres with 215x85's (actually maybe 215/75's and the majority of tyres are new, cept they are 14 inch rims. I'm in the market for 15s anyways as you all know. will run 31's at
hte back cause of my shorter torsion bars. probably 10 inch wide rims on rear.
So i just gotta load up 2 tyres then. I'm the one to be 'over cautious' and pack a heap of spares. (well... plan to be) I have heard some horror
stories about being in the middle of no where with a dead car, i don't plan on having one of my own...

There's no need for a 10inch rim on the rear. 7 or 8's are enough

I agreed, 8's are plenty. Unless you're going to be running something huge like 33" by 12.5" on the back. Which you won't fit easily anyway.

so 8 inch is a goer for the rear. awesome, makes it a little cheaper then too! Will get back to yas and post up how i go in the upcomin holidays...
