Started eating speedo cables!!! On the third one now.....
Terriable noise also comig from speedo !! Maybe it's stuffed !!!
Must get it taken to bits and check it out.

Yeah I kept having that happen in my bug. Kept breaking the cable at the wheel end and I couldn't see why. When I took the cable right out (for
about the 3rd time mind you), I drove the car and placed my finger over the bearing at the rear of the speedo and found that it wasn't turning.
Each time I was putting a new one in, I'd just start to move and it was breaking. $70 to get the whole speedo overhauled (cleaned, tested,
calibrated, repaired ceased bearing) which wasn't too bad. Sounds like perhaps the bearing in yours is sticking and breaking cables too.

It only takes a few seconds!
I learnt the hard way too!
Put your new cable on the speedo via the luggage compartment & then try to turn it with your fingers. You'll soon see if the speedo has
siezed!

samw thing happened with mine, $70 dollars to have it fully overhauled. Place on evans rd in brisbane did mine. |
