Yes
but what you actually do is put in a spring loaded or the screw type pushrod tubes.
I had a leak in one of mine.
Take the rod out, and then pull the old one out.
Put the new one in.
Personally i havent used the spring type - but havent heard good things. The blue screw type worked great for me.
I think they are like $25 each

If you have a fair few leaking then your better off pulling the engine, and replacing all the tubes with new ones as well as all the seals
The heads have to come off as well.
Please use the German quaility seals and tubes.

One of the great things about Type 4 Kombi engines is that you CAN replace pushrod tubes with the engine in place. You only have to take the rocker
gear and pushrods off. The sealing design is completely different from the concertina pressure seal used in Beetles.
The only way to fix this properly on Beetle engines is as Dave says - pull the motor out, take off the heads and replace the tubes and seals. Stretch
the NEW tubes slightly before putting them in - by gently bending each end back and forth in your hands. Put the tubes in so that the seam faces
upwards. You can even put a smear of Permatex on the seals - don't use silicon though.

(Type 1) the tubes can only be changed by pulling the heads
Type 4 can be changed without pulling the heads

Leaking push rod tubes
[size=4]If You don't want to pull Your engine out, then the screw in type of push rod Tube is for You. Mick Motors has them in Stock I would
NEVER put a push rod tube seal in DRY.. Use Permatex or PEP Aviation Jointing goo, I have used both and they work great. I find most push rod tube
seals crack with age (red or White) but the Jointing cement will stop the leaks- seal the seals - I use it on both sides of the seals. just an even
coat. wipe off the excess after they are installed. I always paint My Push Rod seals with good quality engine enamel or heat proof paint to stop them
rusting.. plus they look nice when painted...I find everything looks nice when painted .[/size]:bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce:thumb:thumb:thumb

I have always used a bit of sealant on my pushrod tube seals, always had leaks, especially with the abuse it takes on the track, now for the last 3
years I have used nothing on my pushrod tube seals & rocker covers gaskets & I'm still leak free:thumb even after flogging it on the
track.
