You mean the framehead on the front and the torsion housing on the back?
I have seen this done where someone welded another torsion housing onto the car at the back directly under the stock one. Can't remember what he had at the front.
Problems with this is you are adding a lot of extra weight, would have to gusset the crap out of it like you said, I'm not sure of legality? and you are not actually gaining any ground clearance. Cause you are only moving the body up on the suspension, not winding the suspension up for more height.

Smiley,I did the opposite on my Drag Car,another torsion bar tube 3" higher and 4" further back to lengthen the wheel base.Cut the front beam panel from another pan and welded it 3" higher. Those cap screws you have holding the air cleaner adaptors to the carbies-I would drill and use tie wire in case they come loose.I made some adaptors on my buggy to fit the Type 3 carbs, and also used tie wire-nothing worse than stuff falling into the carb.I have my front brakes ready to bolt onto the CB spindles-thanks for your help.

Thanks for your advice Gary. I have a feeling that I didn't Loctite them. Cause I wanted to be able to get them out again. Lock wire sounds like a great idea.

I don't know if I posted pictures of mine but when I use lockwire I use little "R" clips so I can get the part of without having to re lockwire and cut the stabbing stuff off..

It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!
