? 2 Mirrors on 1966 VW Beetle

Can somebody please help me? I have a VW Beetle 1966 and just bought two original mirrors from Germany. Unfortunately I can use only the mirror on the drivers side, the other mirror I cannot even see when I sit inside the car. How can I solve this problem? Please, please can anybody help me?

Hi Claudia,

Are your mirrors the kind that screw into the tops of the door hinges? I used to have those on my '64.

Are the mirror arms the same length on the left and right? If they are different, you might have a left-hand drive set and your passenger mirror (driver's mirror in Germany) is too short!

If they are the same, you might only need to adjust the position of the arm. Sit in your driver's seat and have a friend loosen the passenger mirror mounting. Get them to swing the mirror back until you can see it. Then have them tighten it.

My passenger mirror was always in a bit of a blind spot and I could never see things clearly (I'm 6'4" tall and probably sit too high anyway). I just learned to see by turning my head quickly and looking. But my VW looked good with mirrors on it!
