Dells

Ok i've got twin dells on my panel and i am having probs with it ideling seems to choke up all the time if the idle is adjusted lower and if i leave the idle high (1000-1100) it runs good but on shut down it lets out a huge bang about 2 sec later. I've taken it to a couple of places and they seem to going round in circles. So where is a good place to take my bus and have the carbies tuned and will know what they are on about in the Brisy area. I'm thinking i may have to get it done on a dyno.

get yourself the dellorto cookbook. Last one I bought was $13 on ebay. Great book for setting them up properly. Carburetor supply company for jets also.

I can vouch that Dellorto book has got some good info in it.
Ive got some similar issues with my 40s on my bus.
There may be some info on shoptalk forums.
Are u running a fuel pressure control and a good fillter.
Ive got mine set at 2.5 lbs.
Are your needle/seats good? Maybe your idles are too big.

Dell book is good, or ring me while you have 5 min and the engine running & I'll talk you through getting it right.

You'll need a small screw driver and 7, 8, 9, 10, 11mm and maybe a 3/8 open ended spanners, all depending what linkage you have

i ran twin dells on my Dual Cab for years and they were nothing but trouble. I spent so much money keeping them running. When they were set up fine they were great, but that wasn't too often. Unless you know how to keep them tuned yourself you will always have your hand in your pocket.

I switched back to standard twin carbs about 4-5 years ago and have not had to worry about them at all. Best thing I did was go back to standard carbies.

Hey tar76

Dual carbs (weber or dellorto) is the best thing you can give a volksie engine and Matt will steer you right.
Love the panel.
