End float problems

A while ago, I removed the flywheel and crankshaft pulley from my tp 1600 and when I put them back on the end float disappeared altogether.

I have taken the flywheel and pulley off again and the crankshaft slides back and forth without hassle. When I put one or both of them back on, there goes my end float again.

It had the correct end float before I touched it and no shims have been added or removed. The only thing done is the removal and replacement of the pulley and flywheel.

Is something wrong with it or should I put it back together the way it was and run it for a while and check it then????

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is it a different flywheel? If so then that is your problem. You will need to set the end float up again.

Make sure that all shims and the wheel are sitting in there correct positions

Check the end float with out the flywheel seal in place.

Did you rotate the engine when you have fitted all the bits up finger tight ???

If its not rotating then something is wrong.
