Installed an inline suppression filter to the power supply and didnt make any difference i am thinking the distributor has such a strong spark that
nothing is going to stop the issue

Hi
Try disconnecting the charging system, that maybe where the noise is coming from. If that fixes it you may need a suppressor on the charging
circuit

I disconnected the spade terminal wire of the alternator but didnt make a difference

Does the noise go up and down with engine revs??
make sure everything is earthed well..
separate perfect earth connections on everything..
means scratching the paint off under each connection..
also, could try attaching an earth lead to the distributor or engine..
check the earth strap at the nose of the gearbox to chassis..
Your spark plug leads - are they resistance type or wire type?
I'm guessing You have a low resistance spark plug lead system
beetles normally have a resistor in the distributor rotor plus in those bits that sit on the spark plugs.. but I'm guessing its an earthing issue...
which is being picked up by Your amplifier etc,,

Hi Paul
You should be able to see it hanging from the chassis to the nose of the gearbox near the front gearbox mount..
I made one out of a new long earth strap I had, I soldered each end and drilled holes
it needs to be shiny on the strap and the chassis metal so it earths out to the chassis metal, not thru the bolt..
Use a new zinc plated bolt and flat washer..
Many of these straps are missing these days and the flow of electricity has to go thru the gearbox gear shifter etc to earth out..
I've seen headlights go dim when changing gears... lol
earthing problems arise due to a car being painted etc.. as its natural not to want to go scratching the paint off.. lol

doubt if it is earthing if everything else is working fine
first thing to go would be the battery not charging or not starting properly
I know you are using Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Plug Wire Set - Blue leads
But are they noise suppression leads??

Looks like they are OK then Paul...
I like those leads but too expensive for Me.. lol
and I wasn't sure whether they were the suppression type or ones used on race/drag cars which don't need to be suppressed etc...

It's been a while since I posted an update, yesterday Rosie went to Vintage VW for a service as well as a few bits and pieces, as usual Boris, Mike
and the gang did a fantastic job, couldn't be happier.
Next upgrade will be replacement of the rear deck lid with one with 4 vents then I can remove the stand-off
