[FS - NSW] 1965 VW Bug Turbocahrged! Forged internals!

Sorry, new to forums! I just read the rules to list a car for sale!

SELLER'S NAME: Isaac

SUBURB: (Lower Blue Mountains) N.S.W

ITEM DESCRIPTION: 1965 VW Bug w/turbo 1600 engine

The overall condition of this car is good. It is used on a daily basis and has worn accordingly.

The engine is based on a 70's AS41 D.L case using balanced stock crank and cam. The top end consists of mahle forged 85.5 pistons(labeled suitable for no2 and turbo). The heads are worked single port with 1.25 ratio rocker arms.
The turbo kit is something I made at home using a rebuilt TC05 mitsu turbo. The new 34pict carb has shaft seals installed, modded air correction, main, pilots ect. (can provide more details if reqd) The fuel fump is boost referenced and im running petronics ignition. Its running a blitz Blow off valve which is quite quiet.
Everything else is pretty self explainatory.
The engine happily holds 5-9psi mixed driving. The gearbox is a standard 1500 unit usings sachs clutch and kushlock disc.
The front beam is a standard empi adjustable beam with standard spindles and a disc brake conversion. I'm also using type 3 drums on the rear. The brakes are still single circuit.

This car is driven on a daily basis and has proven to be very reliable and reasonably economical(av 10l per 100 kms) in all conditions.
The turbo setup make good power throughout the rev range and is quite easy to drive. The power delivery is very smooth, transitions on and off boost are very clean.
The motor is clean always, some oil residue around the oil dump.
Good Points:
* Very quiet to drive
* Very reliable!
* Good power and economy
* Drives like a stocker until boost kicks in
* Full Comp insured by NRMA - approved with turbo.
* Temp sits low 160 - 210'F on a hot day
* Likes to scare commodore drivers

Bad Points:
* Interior needs some attention - need to install second bucket seat, headliner comming loose around door jam
*The gauges get some interferrence from the generator when the light turned on - Backlights flash in time with the motor
* The clutch slips at high boost pressure eg 4th gear 9psi 90mph+
* Car is not engineered, but having said that I have not had any troubles by the police

Overall the car is great fun and im not in any major hurry to sell her, as long it keeps putting a smile on my face I'll keep driving it!

PRICE: $8000 Negotiable. All offers considered!

Um, I hate to tell you this.........but your "full NRMA insurance" is useless if its not engineered.

NRMA were happy to insure the car with the turbo and no engineers certificate.

Thankyou for the concern Craig, but if it doesn't sell I'll be looking at getting it engineered. I'm Sure it will pass.

The photos on ebay are a little dated, i'll post recent pics this week.

Thanks

i think i was talking to u a while back on shoptalk

i didnt have my turbo or supercharger setups engineered either.
the cops dont normally give hassle but if your in an accident then your screwed.
insurance companies will take you to the cleaners over that one.

good to see you put a mufffler on it since the last pics i saw, you shouldnt have a prob with engineering other than that BOV.
atmo BOV arent legal for engineering purposes which is stupid cos its only compressed air

i had one of those greddy style ones so u can switch it between a atmo trumpet or plumb it back

Thanks for the good advice on shoptalk.

I have a Bosche plastic plumb back BOV which I think should do the trick. I'm also on the look out for a small air box, maybe off a japanese car to use instead of the pod, I think these are defectable also?

Overall I'm really happy with the car at the moment. The powerflow muffler and new exhaust system has quietend the car down alot. Makes boost quicker now for some reason?
