found a bus just need some opinions

Hey every1 i've found a 73 baywindow in my area for sale.
I just need some advice before i go diving head first into another project. First let me give you some details. It has fairly bad rust in the front window cill and in the pillars a little bit, it has the fuel tank cut out along with half the cargo area, it has no engine or inteia just some misplace seats out of a toyota. no bumpers and the chasis has surface rust that could be treated and coated.

He's asking $500 for it i personaly don't think its worth that, so if any1 has any input

Now i've restored a beetle that had rust in the back window and found the job ok so i'm not completly useless.

i cant see the pictures, but i probably would pay $500,something worth that price is almost worth just buying and holding onto, wether used for parts,or get around to the project one day.If the rust was real bad maybe $350-400.

yeah i can see them now,i was viewing it at work and i think their servers block that stuff.lol
After seeing the pictures i think $500 isnt too bad, joel has a good point, you dont find many kombis on ebay that will sell for 500buks normally that is the starting bid. That pillar does worry me a little but i have seen worst rust repaired so i think you will be right.it is pretty straight as well.
P.S-Luv your quote,i would have to agree with you on that one.lol (apart from spelling)

i Started with about the same rust in my 73 ,some bits you can buy others not and you have to fabricate,i must have got a bargain with mine as i paid double and a bit for 2 and both had motors etc, just one was way too rusty, check out my thread to see what i had to start with and what i have now

The cargo door window also has extensive rust.. My guess is the gutters have rust also.. Please check the roof area... Don't kid yourself.. this is a major resto.. You said bits are cut out also.. I would have to suggest that a better bus without as much structural rust and complete for $2-3000 would be a better and cheaper option.. This one I would get as a parts donor at best.. Rob

Thanks guys the roof is pretty good their no rust in the gutters the pan is good only surface on the bottom all the doors have a little bit of rust on the bottom but apart from that its not to bad, for me its 2 years work on the body alone unless i find a massive surprise somwere. mechanical i can fix and replace body is harder. So onece again have a motor they dont need?
