how to get the engine lid to be poped out at the top? is it just unbolting the 2 nuts on each side of the lid and then pull it and then it will only hold on 1 nut on each side?????

You undo the 3 bolts on either bracket where the hinge bolts to the body. You can buy ready made brackets but i made mine from some bits of stainless.

you use a product called HOODJAX available from Vintage VW and Stan Pobjoy Racing Engineering. You can then open and close the bootlid anytime !:thumb

I had the steel brackets, but everytime it rain the engine got wet !:(

Hood Jak are the BEST.

I have one for the peak of summer and when i go for hi speed trips to say Newcastle or Woolongong.
Takes all of 2 minutes to put it out or in. Or if out and you are parking drop it for a bit of security.
Costs around $70 but well worth it.
You loose the spring on the hood but you get speed clips instead. When you realive the benefits of speed clips and the ease of taking the hood off to work on the motor you will wish you alwasy had them

GET ONE! :bounce

I just moved the hinges out so the front bolt was in the rear hole. bodge I know but as it was being run between sydney and newcastle every day in the height of summer I had little option.

No, Stan doesn't have a web site (well not the last time I spoke with him anyway)

His number is 02 6650 9616.

I got mine from him, and as Blue74L said, once you've used the 'speed clips' there's no going back.
