Baja & Rally T3s Anyone ?

As my project 1974 Fastback nears streetability, I came across some cool pics of Baja and Rally Type3s . . . and was wondering if it's do-able . . . on a reasonable budget.

Anybody got some idea, What might be a reasonable budget for such a project as these pictured ? There's even
some videos of that white T3 Baja wagon bush bashing on YouTube !

I live close to the Otway Ranges, and Mmm ! It looks like really tempting fun. What do you all reckon ?

It'd be nice to be different, where everyone else is dropping their T3s down real low !

The friendly bloke at the local Dub place reckons it's not real hard to raise a Type3 . . . and I wonder how hard, is not real hard ! ( I turned up there just as they were wheeling in a really clean and sexy black Twin Cab Bayview, with mags . . . did I mention BLACK ! Maaaaan, she was to drool for ! . . but I digress.)

I imagine you'd have to stabilise against body roll . . . get serious really high profile tyres, and cut some bigger arches for them . . . and then I wonder if the 1600cc would have enough cojones for that sort of fun in a heavy t3 shell, anyway ?

Any thoughts ? Maybe some similar pics, as well

Yep, I've worked on two different ones over the years, and seen a few more, a mate built one grafted to a kombi chassis and drive line, and Tony who visits AVD BUT NEVER POSTS, had one that he later dumped on the ground.
Basic is wheels and adjust ride height. Then as you venture further off road and beef up the engine you start to cut things up to get more ground clearance with even bigger wheels/tyres as they have more overhangs than a baja. They do go pretty well, and the weight tends to give some traction at the expense of speed/agility. Not to mention the benefits of a wagon

This is a cool fasty baja....too radicle for Oz though.
