just wondering what is the best quality fuel hose and correct size for a late type 3

Im not sure as in quality or variations when it comes to fuel hose.
i didnt think there was too many,to tell ya the truth.
But i just went to my local auto store and purchased a roll of the right diameter
to fit.If there is an old piece on there, take it with you and try to match the size.
All depends on what you want for your vehicle really.

just buy the best You can....
Most auto shops sell it... if it has a brand on it its usually OK..
I don't like the cotton covered stuff, as You cannot see if it cracks.... until it leaks....

Make sure all the hoses are clamped at the carbs and fuel pump. Best to pull the old pressed in tubes from the carbs and replace with screwed in ones
with a barb for gripping the hose. Use some tie wire to keep the clamped hoses to the fuel pump safe as well. 6mm bore hose if you can get it.
Many places still try to sell the 1/4" hose.

Couldn't remember the VW size Matt! Thought 6 but that's the size of the tubes. 5mm makes it stick on as it did/ should. Don't know if there's
any 3/16" (4.8mm) around. They told us the country was metric from 1972 and yet there's so much imperial around still, no doubt from the Merkin
suppliers. 6mm is ok if all clamped properly.

I have tested the fuel line you can purchase from Pirtek
its is suitable from Unleaded and E10 fuels as well
It come in 8 and 6 mm size which will suit VW also its High Pressure for fuel injection
