another q about wheel sizes and offset??

without the car here to measure it all up and check myself, i see that people have fitted up to 18" x 8 on a type 3 wagon (becs 13b roatary) i have a lovely set of wheels i am interested in but rather than a 42mm offset these american wheels come with offset described as backspace as either 4.25inches or 4.5 inches ackspace...considering becs car uses 42mm backspace will either the 4.25 or 4.5 fit my wagon??? the wheels are 17 x 7 showwheels streeters..,
thanks again james

Put your figures into this site http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp
I got ET 13 for the 4.5" BS and ET 5 for the 4.25" BS
Not good for type 3

yIKES james..
they are some BIG wheels...

remember that some wheels and tyres are only used for showing purposes...

plus people pay large amounts to have the car modified to fit large or wider wheels and tyres....

They do look great...
but depending where You live...
driveways are a curse....
dips in the road etc....
and comfort going over rough roads...
and I don't mean gravel roads... but sealed roads...

best of luck....

LEE

PS: I have 6 inch wide wheels on mY beetle and have lots of front tyre problems.. when turning and dipping at the same time.... Best to have the car there to fit new wheels etc..

PLUS lowering the car makes is difficult again...

if you wanna run wide wheels
narrow your front beam and you can also cut into the guard,

if you take out the headlight in the guards cut a semi circle and make a shallow bugle.. so you have more room for your tyres to move

kinda unrelated, but that sizing is perfect if you have a strut bug with 2" wider guards :tu:

at risk of offending people, a type3 with pumped/rolled guards could be interesting, not torana style, more like... R34 GTR or something...

? I'm a bit confused 15 x 4.5 is the standard rim size for the type 3 (ET 41/5 x 205 and ET 45/4 x 130). Did you use mags which changed the offset?
