very basic questions.


ok guys i need to service my bug and this will be my first time by myself.
what type of oil filter do i need?
do i need to change my spark plugs?
i know what air filter i need,
and what else do i have to do ????
help needed guys please.

crap forgot to mention that i have a 1974 1300tp.

valve clearances, new oil, (prolly don't have an oil filter... but you should have a screen to rinse out) new fuel filters and spark plugs if you want, but probly not necessary. take em out and check the electrodes...
um.
new points.
condenser.
re-do your timing.
check tire pressure etc.

I can't remember who it was, but I think it could have been Volkspower (try a search) recently offered tune-up kits with everything you need to do a service on your VW. :thumb

Make sure you have a manual, feeler gauges, 12V test light, plug socket (make sure it has the rubber in it to hold onto the spark plug as you pull it out), 14mm ring spanner, 10 mm ring spanner, screwdrivers, etc.

It's all pretty basic stuff. Good luck!! :D

How often do you need to do valve clearances? I have a 1600tp.
