Looks cool - I like it, but man how high is that front wing off the ground !?!?!
Hard to tell from this pics if you already have one, but you might want to sort out a firewall setup to prevent any liquids or bits from the engine
coming back onto the driver.... scruits have been known to pick on stuff like that... even seen arguments about vents on front engine cars that could
let oil back onto the windscreen.

Cute pack hey Matty :-)
front wing can`t go any lower to the ground or it becomes a Bull-Dozer in the dirt tracks
But yeah the "Pre-Log-Book-scrutineering" picked on it a bit for firewall holes & stuff a few weeks ago, but we corrected all that
if you look close you should be able to see that the top Alloy engine cover extends way back, down & behind & seals up against the firewall
(foot-plate) inside the car
They wanted a rear fire wall too so we made an alloy sheet panel between the seat & the fuel tank
hope they`re happy with it all,,, once the new steering rack gets here i`ll sort all that & have it checked again for (hopefully) the last time
& we should have a log book before Noosa Hillclimb (or thereabouts)
It`s looking more like a Pikes-Peak Hillclimb special now ey? :-)

oh & it`s a Yammy R1 donk,,, early 130hp carby version tho
we have a new-er 160 hp injected R1 engine that i`m playing with atm but looks like that may end up in my Marcos,,, i`ll just have to buy another
injected one & then turbo it for the buggy later :-)
300hp would be better than 130 yeah???

4x4... 300hp ... 250kgs

Happydaze,,, now that`s funny :-)
Pete, the belt we are thinking will be something like what drives the rear wheel of a Harley Davidson,,, but looking at setting it up with 2x belts
--> one from the front diff to a center diff in the middle of the car, (also LSD) & then another belt from center diff to the rear diff... Just
makes for shorter belts, easier to replace, less chance of getting too much belt whip to control with roller tensioners etc
There are some issues to sort tho,,, room for all of it,,, height of car will obvioulsy have to be slightly higher, roller/tensioners will need to be
sorted etc etc etc... but,,, i feel the center diff may help with less bind up of front & rear axle especially on the tighter bitumen circuits
Jonny, Both wings actually do work (not the best in the world but still) , just that the end plates could be bigger & the front one could be
lower to the ground to work better,,, however we can`t mount the front one any lower at all, as it will become a bulldozer on the dirt tracks,, so
we`re just testing what we can get out of this lot & can change sh!t as we go
the new 4x4 space-frames will be far lighter, but adding the 4x4 running gear & turbo etc will obviously bring it back to roughly the same weight
as this first car,,, so i`m not fussed ,,, a 300+hp 4x4 weighing only 250kgs isn`t such a bad thing in my books :-)
My good friend Dale Allen has set up a 420hp turbo R1 engine for one of his friends (His Brother is Jonny Allen & rides for Alumilite racing they
have a very good pedegree in the race bike scene) & he`s also set-up many more before that with well over 350hp,,, so i think i`m in good hands
with that lot
He is also a very good coach-builder come sheet metal worker & is already on the ball with making better wings, i only bought these ones cause
they are super cheap & i didn`t have to suck dale off to make me wings straight away... i`m running Noosa Hill Climb in 2 weeks so wanted "SOME"
sort of downforce to play with for the weekend,,, we`ll probly run without them for the first couple of runs & then bolt them on for another
couple of runs & see/feel what difference they make
If i find no gain with them on the tight stuff them we`ll leave them off & try/test them at Lakeside
& if anyone is interested (if you have actually read this far into this post),,, we ran 1min-2secs at Lakeside practise a month ago,,, with only
one wheel drive (the diff was shredded) also had major dramas with the engine running excessivley rich (changed the exhaust pipe & muffler &
it went stupid rich) we were also running on 25 year old grooved slicks that didn`t have any heat in them after 10 laps
so now we have the diff replaced,,, we also have brand new Hoosier slicks,,, we have also sorted the pipe & carb mixtures,,, now i expect some
better times at Lakeside (should be well under the minute now) But no time to test as the new steering-rack still isn`t here (Landed in customs
Brisbane friday so hope to have it monday)
I just wanted "SOME" sort of wings to try cause this thing gets pretty dam light at speed,,, so we`re just having a play
if the front wing won`t work & will just add drag,,, then that would mean the rear wing would do the same yeah?... well at least we`re consistent
& balanced then hey? :-)

As long as the angle of the front wing isn't too steep, you shouldn't have to worry about issues with eddies
There will always be a bit of drag in the way with anything the wind has to pass over, but the downward pressure should be worth it for front end
stability, as long as ur going fast to keep that air going over which i'm sure u will
If u put little plates across it will act like a diffuser adding
to straight line stability, again, trying to remove any resulting eddies due to turbulence. U could do that on the front and back.
And i thought a 2 stroke go-kart was fun lol, this thing looks nutz!

hee hee,,, you got it baja,,, we`re sorting "middle-plates (of a sort) to help with exactly what you`re saying
ya never know if ya never go there hey? & funny you should talk about go-karts
we set up a few go-karts with 125cc & 465cc motocross engines for hillclimbs & autocross years ago,,, took lap records at both Echo Valley
& Willowbank with them
we now have another one with 250cc motocross donk ,,, gonna have another play & see where that lands us
but Shhhh,,, don`t tell anyone,,, it`s a secret :-)
& yes we`ll be putting some "Wind-drag" devices on them too :-)
