before i spend $800 on new sunrasias, (problem solved :P)
Hi guys,
Just about to do a purchase over ebay.
But before i spend dollars on a set of new 4 stud black gloss sunrasias, does anyone have anything else to offer?
Would have to be in good nick, 15inch tall, and wide, and not require restoration. of course must be beetle 4 stud.
I was going to buy 2x 15x6 and 2 x 15x8. Anything around that. I was considering mangel modulars but bbt has ran out of stock till the new yr
apparently. I like the black sunrasias, i like em' alot, but just not in love with em. know what i mean?
They'll be right and practical, and look ok, but i just want to see my other options before i spend that kind of cash.
regards,
Christopher.

I'll have a look at what rims I have up the top in my stash and see if I have any Chris.
Probably won't be a full set though. Maybe just a pair.

Just checked what I had.
Unfortunately I have 4 and a half sets of stock steelies. I was sure I had some wide ones but they must have went with the last superbug I sold.
Bummer dude Hope you find what you want for a good price.

I would have thought you could get a variety of alloy whees for that money.
Check out PERFORMANCE wheels. An Australian company. I recon you could get some wheels for that monay and have brand new, custom offset and width
wheels...
http://www.performancewheels.com.au/superlite.asp
I might be wrong but i recon you could get a set fr that money

There should be heaps of used sunraysias about..
most bajas had them...
also try car wreckers..
I would have thought they would have been more like $120 ea
as they are just plain looking nothing fancy wheels...
cheers
LEE
and then paint them black.... lol

Good point Lee lol.
Thanks for the help guys, i just confirmed a purchase for a second hand set of oldskool 4 stud Dragways for just short of $400. They hyave been soda
blasted, will just use a couple pressure packs to clean up the outside. Leaves me some cash for barwork etc or tyres (only need 2 A/T's just for the
rear).
Thanks Daniel for the manx club link, I talked to Luke and i said hit me up
I'm thinking leaving the centre alloy, and will paint the outside a gloss black, with a lovely red pinstripe on each tyre.. just a small one... We'll see how long that will take to polish off in the dirt lol. I have
promised myself i'm not going to be one of those over protective pretty boy baja drivers who cringe at a bit of dirt touchin my paint...
Slap me if i do....
I was just having trouble justifying $800 on pressed steel sunrasias... I am a tight arse though

Don't forget Chris that steel rims on an offroad vehicle can be if necessary bashed out if it gets a hard knock but alloy will crack.

Thanks mate. very good point actually...
I didn't think that far. But these wheels i just nabbed have alloy centre with steel outter, and the centre is bolted in. That should do it hey?
I got a set of MTZ's i'm watching closely too, i think i might grab them :P

If you know a good welder you can make up your own wide steelies
I made some 15x6 ones up for the back of mine years ago using commodore outter rims with vw centers
the Police pack chaser/pursuit rims are always around reasonably cheap and are 7" wide and you can choose your own offset too

nice work Joel
Another good solution. Did you make a jig to align up the centres? or just measured up half a dozen times? lol.
I spose minor issues could be smoothed out with just balancing?
The steel wheels i got now are vw inner with ford falcon outter, they are about 7inch wide as well. except 14's....

Cheers, i was in the same boat, had a few sets of wide ones but all 14"s
Can't stand 14s on a bug now, they so small makes it look like a skate board
and the offset was totally wrong, 2 people in the back led to frequent scrubbing
It took some work to get them true, had the centers bolted to the car then positioned the rims with little metal foxtail wedges so i could check that
they ran true both in/out and up/down before welding as well as set the offset to suit my car

Gday all on my baja I had a set of toyota prado rim centres machined out & standard 15 in 4 stud centres welded in by a machine shop the centre
was so tolerant that they needed a slight amount of press to fit them heavy but strong. Free rims free shop work = cheap wheels.
