more ghost flames

here is a ghost flame job i did this week, yes i knows its on a *cough*holden and not a dub but it gives you an idea of different effects. All though its not a true ghosting effect becasue its a shimmering silver pearl over a blue it still has the shadowing effect and it fades in and out.

To give you all an idea of price to do this job which involved stripping the bonnet and bar back and high fill priming, then repainting the blue. Then masking the flames and applying them.3 coats of HS clear and two flo coats to get the perfect flat finish all for a grand total of $3500+GST which is not as much as some of you would have thought..

Obviously different jobs cost diffent price's and each job has to be priced to suit.. it gives you a fair idea of a cost though...

All I can say is You are very talented,
.
Does the base colour have to be mettallic as I would like to do it on a Beryl green which is a 60s colour.
Cheers

you can do it on a direct gloss dave no worries there.. just be sure you use a good contrasting colour for your flames..

Most spray shops will be able to show you all the different pearls etc so you can work out what works with your green.

just be a bit carefull cuz when you paint them and clear over it all it mite make your existing paint look a little faded(thats if its an older paint job)..

thanks for the info Dub
I will be painting the bus so the flames will be going on fresh paint,
How would it work with 2 pac?
Would I be able to spray clear over it?
would it have to be a special 2 pac clear.
Cheers

i only work with 2pac(well mostly) on all my custom work... the pics u saw are all in 2 pac..i am guessing your van is or will be painted in 2pac so it will casue you no problems,if it has or is going to be painted in some thing else you can 2pac your flames and clear but it would be best to put a clear sealer over it to stop any chance of reactions

i work with PPG products mostly and find them to be of high grade. 421 express clear coat is one of there best ms clears, goes on so flat great shine and finish. I also use house of Kolor paints and there clears are great to but they do coat a fair bit more eg...

PPG 4 lt pack=$178+gst

house of Kolor 5lt pack=$670inc gst

the hsv i just did(one in the pics) was all done in PPG and u can see the finish is great .. if you need any help give me a shout.. i am going to the uk in a few days for 6 weeks but i will still be checkin in here and mails... so any probs/questions just let me knows...
