[FS - SA] FS VW Type 3 Square

Hey guys up for grabs is my 72 Squareback.

I purchased the car for $900 with the motor piston slapping very badly (un-driveable). I have since stripped the motor back to crankcase and replaced a cracked piston and barrel. All new gaskets and seals have been replaced from the crankcase so it doesn’t leak any oil, somewhat of a miracle for a VW motor. The motor itself now runs fantastic, doesn’t blow any smoke and ticks over beautifully.

After I had put the motor back in the car I have discovered the oil pump in the trans isn’t working, and therefore the trans has no drive. Easiest option is to replace the whole trans or get it repaired with a new oil pump.

Body is quite good for age, has had a respray at some point and paint work is respectable defiantly. There is some filler in the driver’s door and in the rear passenger guard, a scratch dent in the drivers rear guard but apart from the body is pretty straight. Rust wise there is a little bit above the rear window along the side of the hatch which is pretty common for squares. Bumpers, indicators and lights are all good condition. Standard wheels look great and have good caps.

Interior and trim is quite clean and tidy, driver’s seat has a couple tears, rear seat is perfect and the carpet has been replaced at some point. Dash is a little cracked as always, gauges look great.

Has been lowered all round (at a guess 2-3 splines front and 1 spline rear)

Engine and trans is currently removed (that’s why the back is so high) and can be put back in the car if the new buyer wishes.

Overall a pretty damn tidy square that simply needs a new trans and away you go! It has CURRENT rego up until mid-may.

Asking $1100

Located in Penfield Gardens 5121 South Australia.

If it doesn’t sell shortly it will be put on ebay.

If anyone wants this come pick it up for $600. Its worth it for the rebuilt motor and parts. I simply don't have the time for it anymore.

think its sold now, guy picking up next week end according the phone message I got. Shame, seems like a great buy, i missed out. If its still for sale I'll buy.

I am sick of ABS, SRS, AFM, SIDI, ECU, PIM, BCM, Electronic sensors & actuators, scan tools, fault codes, programing, flashing, syncing, Drive by wire, tract:crazy:ion & stability control, AARRHHH!!! Just give me Air cooled, VW's.. Simple.
