No worries.
I was wondering more so on whether there are various "body types" for this kind of beetle.
I was looking over this website, and I was a little confused.
"Note new type of chassis number. The first digit ‘1' denotes type 1 (beetle). Second digit used to denote body style (eg 5 for cabrio in
appropriate years). The third digit ‘5' indicates the model year 1965."
What Body Styles were there? and What kind of body type is the one I have?
Im kinda confused, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Really there's only 2, sedan and cabriolet.
but technically there's 3 cos after 73 when Curved screen 1303 Superbeetles started, they were numbered differently to standard beetle and cabs.

As its an Australian made beetle made by Volkswagen Australasia at their Clayton Victoria... Factory.
You probably won't find the 196 prefix in any Books etc as the 9 wasn't used by the German factories.. 116 is usual...
and it isn't mentioned on literature from Overseas..
cheers
