WTD - Bumper mounts & early headlights

chasing some mounts to buy borrow or barter so i can mount up my later bumper onto my 71
and since the repro headlights dont seem to sit right in my 911 rings looking for some sealed beam housings/lenses, happily swap stuff or buy, let me know $$$ - anywhere from here to goulburn in the next month :)

Are You using 911 headlamps as they are a different shape to the normal VW headlamps...

or the clear VW type with VW rings??

Do just need the mounts for that 76 bumper?

I got some new ones you can borrow till you find some or they would be pretty easy for you to make copies of..

You coming to heritage park next sunday?

Here are some head lights on ebay for you. Hope you weren't the only bidder so far.

Hi Dave

Those brackets that Joel has shown you will need the holes modified, earlier supers have 3 bolts in a funny arrangement on the body, 76 bugs have 2 holes in line.

I just got my bumpers back from the chrome plater, looks like I will need to put an extension on the bumper brackets to give me an acceptable clearance between the bumper and Aeros.

On my yellow bug I cut up some old early style brackets and welded a short section onto the end of 75/76 brackets

Its a bitch that the glass doesn't fit in the 911 headlight rims, the 911 glasses fit Beetle rims OK.

so if i go 911 rings im stuck with 911 glass...
might just mod the early housings with clear lenses- to be a little smoother then.
brackets are going to be copied/modified to suit the application aswell, and widening the bumper 4" to match the guard width is likely, not keen on having them a mile out from the body work :tu:

lucky i have a few bumpers to play with hey :D - dont panic, ill only be using ONE 76 bar, the donor is an early one.

Hi

The 911 and Beetle glass should interchange.

I had stock bars on my yellow bug, they didn't need to be widened.

I have some genuine Porsche 356 clear headlight glasses I bought from a Porsche dealer, they are genuine Hella ones like the ones used on US spec lights, Im keeping them in case I still go with the Xenon.

I bought my lights from http://www.design911.co.uk.  They are 206 pounds ($315Au) each with a chrome ring or 249.50 ($381Au) with black ring that needs a painted cover.
