Chris, just a thought..........did you 'bed' the cam and followers in PROPERLY? Have you checked valve timing?

The mains seem a bit big, as Craig says, but that would only drop the power a bit.

I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

greg, the cam got bed in years ago and we did it properly...i got a pm of fa dude on ultimate aircooled and he thinks my spring pressures are too low......they are currently 125 pounds on the seat and 275 pounds at 534' lift "full lift"..he suggested trying to shim them up.....i have plenty of room to bind....

Those spring pressures are definately too low.
What was the cam and rpm your using?

ok here is the update...........still cant find this farkin problem.....i just took my maganaspark dizzy to some dudes to run it up and see if there was something wrong.the only thing they could find was the air gap was too large,30 thou, so they re-gaped it to 5 thou......took it for a spin, poop 4500rpm it starts pooping on me again......it must be the springs......

a mate said disconect all wires to the coil coming from any gauge.as he thinks i might be having some sort of short or something?????

im over it,off to by a horse & cart......

mystery solved.....stan pobjoy helped me hit the nail on the head....thanks stan....

..it was the leads or coil.....i installed a msd blaster 2 coil and magnaspark leads......i have not checked which one was the problem as i was too happy that it reved cleanly past 6500rpm so i parked it in the garage then had a beeerrr.......

hope this helps others...
