Trouble with re fitting headlight rings

After changing globe, went to put in bottom screw in headlight ring (the one that screws into the fender) and thread is stripped on that tab. Is there an easy fix?

big self tapper, or a long thin nut n bolt, more permanant repair, remove the stripped nut, (vice grips and gentle persuasion will do it) the fit an M6 nutsert you can re-use your VW screw again.
