Breaking down body to parts
Hi Guys,
I have a Squareback shell that I have bought as a donor for my Fastback. It is currenly sitting in my front yard, and I want to remove it. I want to
break it down into panels to store. I don't want to cut any parts, but to pull the car apart on the welds. Is this an option? Is a spot weld cutter
the tool that I need?

That's not really possible. Even if you drilled out all the spot welds, the floorpan would remain and that's nearly the full length of the car.
Also, there are a lot of seam welds in an old car like a Type 3, so if you didn't cut them somehow you would have a fair few panels which are nearly
the length of the car.
The best way would be to work out every single panel which you need for your project and cut those out and keep them. Most of the shell will still
remain and you will have to dispose of it. If you need more than 25% of the shell for repair panels then you are restoring the wrong car!

Hi Waveman,
The donor body is just that, pan and all fittings stripped off. I can cope with two full length sides, I want to reduce the width. I can put the sides
in the garage, and i don't need the Squareback roof.
I take your point about the wrong car, but is has extreme sentimental value to me.

cool someone using a squareback as parts car to restore a fastback not the other way round for a change go the fastbacks
get some cutting discs for your angle grinder cut off just what you need to keep just beyond what you need into the bits you dont
so sills you could cut them off at the a post and through the rear wheel arch so you get inner and outer in one go etc

I agree with Waveman ...map out what you want to use ...cut it and biff the rest ....I ahve found that this is the most economical way to do it
.....gets to be a pain if you have carcasses sitting there that you don't want nor need!
