Hi Pete,
I'm new to all this but how does that fit in an type 1 swing axle that im looking to convert to IRS. I have an IRS pan rear cut with box, is the type 3 box a benefit?

Hi Vman, If you already have the IRS rear end of a beetle that you are grafting onto a swinga pan depending on what final drive you are after it realistically will be no benefit to bolt in the type 3 box if you already have a type 1 IRS box....
Alot of people buy the pivot boxes seperately and weld them into a complete swinga pan as it is easier than cutting the whole pan up.
If you go down that path it is essential you weld them in correctly as that will determine the overall setup of your Camber/Caster and Toe measurements.
Get this wrong and it will be a disaster!!.
I do sell the Pivot boxes at the shop if your interested...... Hope that helps!!.
