(QLD) For Sale - Mk1/Mk2 Golf - $1,000 ONO
78 Mk1/Mk2 Golf – Uncompleted project Car
Located in Moorooka, Brisbane.Contact name - Drew
For sale is my 1978 Mk 1 Golf. Reg in Qld, but selling with no Rego. Blue plated for Mk2 Gti 8v FI engine.
THis car is very quick arond town with the 8V FI motor and with the current suspension setup it handles like nothing else. Really is a joy to drive
and very sad to see it go, but needs to be sold as I love oversea at the moment and the car is just sitting.
$1,000, consider offers. You would buy this car for the modifications or to scrap the body and drop in a 3 door shell if you have a good shell. The
body could be repaired but will be a fair bit of work.
Specs
-1978 4 door GL body, fair to poor, with rust in the normal places, but have seen worse.
-Full set of height and rebound (bump also?) adjustable Jamex Coilovers, good condition, though need a clean, with some spare springs and one spare
body
-Full set of Koni sports springs/shocks (not height adjustable) good condition, though need a clean
-Mk 2 1.8L 8v Gti motor, with K-Jetronic Injection, fair condition, could do with some of the intake parts replaced, which are currently patched and
one injector bleeds off pressure when sat, turn it over once or twice and its fine.
-1600 Mk1 gearbox, which is very short and really punches hard around town. Through-out bearing is on the way out, ok for now but needs to be replaced
soon
-Gti grill (4 light) and flares in ok condition, a little faded
-Tow bar
-Late Mk1 interior in fair condition (blue), steering wheel needs recovering, seats and dash ok
-14”x6” x 8 wheels, with tires, though tires are old
-Narrow std wheels, I think x 4, 2 with rally tires on.
-Spare gearbox, sold to me as a 5 speed, but never confirmed
-New radiator and battery.
-Needs new fuse box, patch done to keep wipers working.

This must be "Silver", my previous play car. The motor is a 1988 European spec GTI (more power than the ones sold here).
I can confirm this is a quick, fun car.
