VW Safari Bodywork good welder/fabricator needed!

Hi all,

I am in Brisbane and have pulled apart my 1976 VW Safari ... I am replacing the floor pans and both rocker panels left and right, inside and out and I would love to hear from anyone who is good at doing the welding etc for me!
The guy I have looking after my car is not a VW specialist and is severly dragging his feet ... the VW deserves better ... I have all the parts brand new from the US .. if I could get a number or a contact it would be very much appreciated !

Cheers

Sorry I don't understand what you mean bu cheap brazilian /mexican junk ...as you would know the 182 were primarily built in Mexico ...does that make them all junk?
The repalcement parts I bought from The Thing Shop in Arizona ..they have both Brazilian/Mexican and parts that they have had manufactured ... the floor pans are theirs ... the rocker panels are not ...check out their website if you need to verify this.

I am sorry, I am not asking for freebies or wasting anyone's time on a "cheap"
Mexican/Brazilian vehicle, all I am asking for is someone who is capable of doing quality work for quality money

just previous experience with repair sections varying heavily in quality/accuracy thats all, you spend double the time reworking a terribly made panel that was cheap instead of the more expensive/more accurate ones being almost right to weld on, basically adding alot more time & frustration to the job, taking away the appeal of doing it.
give it a few years more experience & adding a mig to my tig & i would of asked for more details - especially when theres quality money involved :tu:
an old workmate of mine, sheetie/fab guy is now working for himself in brissy, lives around archerfield if you need someone whos got the extra years experience i dont quite possess
-to put it lightly, if anything at work needed welding other than super super super huge stuff, this guy was the one to ask

Thanks for the advice ....perhaps I should have said something like this ..... the rocker panels are rusted beyond repair ..the engineer was able to put his size 20 mitts through the rust holes that were so nicely bogged up ...... the floor pans had sheet metal welded in onto the original remains of the floor pans .... the work was Ok but the support was not there ...so .. on advice from the engineer I sourced quality floor pans and rocker covers from the US and have them waiting to be put in.
It is true that you can spend lots of money reworking bad parts and to this end I have sone as much research as I can to source the best quality available without going mad .... I hope this helps and I would love to have a chat with your friend if he is available ....cheers

You could contact Guru on here as well. Not sure how busy or interested he is in doing extra work but you could ask.
