Upgraded headlights
Anyone ever use a set of these?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-VW-headlights-beetle-kombi-posche-/1107...
If so, how do they go? Worth the investment?
My bug has been converted to 12v, but the lights are still quite weedy. Reckon these might sort them out if they are half decent.
Cheers.

New headlights still wont be any better if your wiring sux.
Check the voltage at the lights.
But the Neolite are ADR and RHD E-code, I got a pair in mine.
Very happy with them.

check out the wiring on Your beetle..
especially the earth connection screw...
if that is a bad contact then Your headlamps will be bad...
If the reflector in Your headlamps are bad then...
Your headlamps will be bad...
also,
If You are NOT using H4 QUARTZ HALOGEN BULBS THEN THE HEADLAMPS WILL BE POOR..
Good reflectors... Good electrical contacts... H4 bulbs and You will be able to see where you are going...
New wiring and headlamp bulb plug will also help..
copper gets contaminated over the years resulting in poor electrical flow....

some one once suggested to me to run one side a pair of jumper cables from the batt to the headlight to test how much power was being lost in the
40year old wiring. That way you are getting a direct feed and if you are losing volts hooking ip full power will show up visably and thenyou have
something to work to. Either new lights or better wiring

I'm still running the stock european bulbs - the ones with no tabs around the baseplate. I haven't found H4s that fit the back of the reflector.
I have no idea about the ADR approval. I'll have to email the guy and ask.
Good idea with the battery - I'll give that a go when I check the wiring on the weekend.
The replacement sealed units look good - but will they fit a 6 volt style light? Do they just replace the back reflector and bulb holder?
I've sprayed the bottom reflector in chrome spray paint which has helped a bit, but the back reflectors are a bit flakey in parts.

Check your headlight adjustment also.
You see cars come towards you that annoy you with their lights?
Are you one of them?

The lights are a bit skew wiff, but pointing down as opposed to eye level at 110kms an hour for the on coming lane.
I know those people as an ex commuting shift worker and put them in the same category as people who drive with their driving lights on in clear
conditions, excel drivers with that god damn bright rear fog light and fat ugly streakers - eye sores the lot of them.
Attractive female streakers on the other hand....

Cheers Ian. I ordered some this Arvo through repco. I rang about them and the guy there swore blind that the sealed unit would fit, so I took out a
headlight bucket and took it in, only to be told no it won't and we don't have the bulbs we said we did over the phone.
Should have em by Tuesday.
