Melbourne Engine/Trans rebuild recommendations
This is my first post but have been lurking around here for a while.
I have a 71 bug (I think it's a super - it has strut suspension). The manual says its a 1500 but everyone tells me it should be a 1600. It's also
an autostick semi auto.
Anyway, as a 40 year old car it blows smoke, is very noisy and the trans makes more noise than the engine. I think it needs new main and pinion
bearings.
I've saved up about $3k for a engine and trans rebuild and am looking for someone to do it.
I spoke to a guy (VW Engineering?) where I could ship the complete motor and trans for a rebuild. Great option and reasonable price with a good feel
of price/performance flexibility. Downside is I have to remove and refit myself. Whilst I'm reasonably confident I could do it, I don't have half
the tools and am challenged for space in the garage.
Can anyone recommend an engine/trans rebuilder in Melbourne?
