Help with decision???


Hi I have blue coil in my vw T1 1974 1300 TW Motor, now i need new distrubutor and what would you recomend??
I have this in mind but not sure if it will work PER-D186504 - PERTRONIX VACUUM ADVANCE (SVDA) DISTRIBUTOR - COMPLETE WITH IGNITOR IGNITION MODULE INSTALLED?
I hope to hear from you guys..thanks in advance Dean

Hi Dean

the blue coil needs to be measured for resistance as the Pertronix kits need 3 ohms resistance or more..

Blue coils are usually 1 or 2 ohms so they are NOT suitable..

The SVDA distributors are GREAT... the Best...

You just need a standard coil... 3 ohms or more...

Same style distributor, only buy the distributor without the Pertronix Ignitor Ignition Module and save yourself some money.
If you do go this way, I recommend throwing away the crappy points they install and fitting a new Bosch set.
The modules are great, though. You MUST run a standard coil or you WILL blow the module up!

Hi Phill, I had spare distrubutor here and installed electronic module and using blue coil and notice differnce in spark but have noticed when i pulled couple spark plugs there were realy black and replaced them and big improvment in throtle whats causing for sprk plugs to go black and they were fitted not along go is that telling me my engine is runing rich and whats next step to fix??? Once more thanks for your help and also to Lee cheers Dean

Hi Lusky Phill, i got everything sorted out and engine runs smooth now, made big improvment on throtle it responses nicely start without pressing pedal once more thanks for your input here Dean
