Spray painting question (not directly auto)
I've made about 20 wings for horse show jumps out of some very second hand treated pine posts that have been in the ground for 20 years.
I've got to paint them and also the rails. They are gobbling up paint & are taking an age with a brush because of all the cracks &
crevasses in the timber. I've got a decent compressor but the acrylic paint I'm using is very thick. Has anyone tried a Schutz gun for this
type of paint? How do I get around the small reservoirs? Can I get a compressed air driven spary gun to suck out of a 20L pail or do I hire a Wagner
from the paint shop?

My bro in law is a painter. Your best of using an airless sprayer they are designed for thick paint and you don't lose so much in over spray.

ah ha a paint question I can answer! Prime it first with a good oil based primer thinned with about 10% turps, will soak right in and once dry the
top coats will go heaps easier and much less thirstier. The paint will stick better, look better and last longer than 'self'priming with
the acrylic paint. |

I agree an airless system is the way to go you can hire them and the just blast the stuff on straight out of the tin:thumb

I thought the airless is the way to go. The $100 fee will be offset by the paint I don't waste & the time saved. I might even haggle the
price down a bit- I need at least 25L of paint!
