No just illegal
I "think" NSW regulations are that you cant run them.
You need to get new drums/rotors drilled/studded in the new pattern

Why would you need wheel adaptors on a kombi? Dont they have the same stud patern as a merc? There are pleanty of wheels for a merc, aftermarket and
genuine.

I saw a guy at harding european swap meet and he mentioned that Ford falcon wheels fitted his kombie.
But I have all wide 5 patern on my vws so I dont know for sure.
Just measure the patern and go to a wheel shop and ask what will fit.
They will have all the info in a book.
Cheers Tony

ford and kombi stud pattern are not the same but are very close. It is possible to them on but when you do up the nuts it actually bends the wheel
studs a little to suit the ford wheels. There is aways the posibility then for the wheel studs to brake after fatigue sets in. I may be wrong but I
think the difference comes from one being in metric and the other being imperial. |

Your dead right Andy
I have ford hubs on my boxtrailer and I have Kombi wheels fitted, they go on but the pattern is slighty out, only by a few mill. I would not trust
it on a heavy Kombi.

you can have ford wheels machined so they fit kombi's I'm sure brad said he paid about $20 a wheel to have them machined?
you can also get merc wheels that fit right onto your kombi rhys
proper alloys theres a guy at the brissie swap meets who ussually has e few sets
in 15" 16" and maybe 17" quite reasonably priced i thought too $400 to $700 per set depending on the size

Hi Kombi Kid
Nice to meet You at Valla with the other guys- girls...
Yes, adaptors are illegal in NSW , they are sold and used in the UK, so whats the difference.. I DID see some used wide 5 bolt adaptors for sale at
Valla.. They used to be sold in South Australia in the 60s & 70s, not sure whether they are still legal over there. Any way it looks like You
are after a set of ALLOY wheels for Your early Kombi.... Cheers Rhys... I hope You enjoyed Your stay at Valla ...

Rhys,
Kombi/Mecedes PCD=112mm, Ford PCD=114mm. As Marcel said you could use Ford mags (AU offset is about right) and get a machine shop to redrill the holes
offset 1mm inwards. I'm considering this option using 16" Ford AU mags on my '66 Baja Splitty with 205R16 Desert Duellers.
I take it you are fitting ball joint and discs on front and four joint 2lt box at back with the V6, another option at the back for the mad negative
camber look is to fit later Bay rear hubs and drums to 1500 Kombi reduction hubs.
Cheers,
Ian. |

What V6 are You going to use in the Kombi Rhys?
Sometimes there are Mercedes wheels cheap on ebay....
I was talking to John Sherman at Valla.
Its a shame You didn't talk to him about your adaptor plate while He was there...
