CB Performance Quick Tune EFI Kit

Hey guys, tossing up the idea of going with a CB performance Quick Tune EFI Kit for my 2276cc engine.

Has anyone had any experience with this kit, or herd of any positive or negative feedback. I could only find one thread on thesamba.com and it wasn't very helpful.

Heres the kit:

http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=1665

I was thinking of ordering it in and getting a workshop here to fit and tune it?

Cheers boys and girls!

Ollie

I'm in the process of completing an installation of a quicktune now. I've fitted and tuned quite a few Haltechs but this is my first CB kit. In comparison, the CB kit is very comprehensive and easy to fit as it has everything included. I have a mate running an older CB kit with good results.

Hi

They refer to the ECU as being an "EMS" is that an Australian ECU?

I want to go EFI on the big Oxyboxer for my sons bug, I was looking into going with a single central throttle body to avoid intake noise, I would assume that the intake noise would be similar to IDAs.

This kit looks to good to pass up value wise.

I could maybe overcome the noise issue and fit pressure covers in place of the air cleaners and run a centre air cleaner.

EMS engine management system
ECU engine control unit

EMS does get confused now and then as it's also a brand of an aftermarket efi system.

Concentrate on the air box and you can reduce the induction noise.

Or just like how MSD actually stands for My Spark Disappears there's alternative versions -
  • EMS = Extra Money Spent
  • ECU = Entirely Cocked Up

But yeah - very hard to argue with the value in the CB setup, especially with the AUD the way it is.

Hi

When I worked at Powertune, Adrian the owner designed and had made a central air box for the IDAs.

The induction noise was dramatically reduced.

I was considering using the CB manifolds with injector pockets and having a log style air box on top of each manifold and then running into a large central throttle body

Steve

the CB pressure cover

Hi

CSP make a neat looking air box, they are 728 Euro or about $970 au.

I reckon using some of those CB pressure covers a neat looking setup could be made with a central air box.

Sorry about the thread hijack Ollie

Steve

The CSP air box and the Powertune airbox

CSP for a grand......definately nice, would take heaps of work to get anywhere close so really not a bad price. I remember seeing Adrians many years ago, don't reckon there would be many around???
