HPMX's etc

Pab,
I'll throw my useless 2 cents in the ring:lol: .

In the USA and here, the original production run of these
were plagued by QC problems ad nauseum.
The second version has seen a tightening of QC.

BUT....how would you guarentee something bought here isn't from the ill-fated run or part of a bad lot??

At least if you are buying from someone who is currently running a set and is a happy camper or from someone who will stand behind what is sold....I'd call the whole experience russian roulette with a half loaded revolver.

Lastly, if you are of the blessed types who get an OK kit, I'd still go through the carbs and make sure they are clean, spotless, adjusted and jetted somewhere in the ballpark....oh, and don't require mangling of the shroud...

You may ignore my 2 cents worth at your earliest convenience:lol:

I sprung for a Dell instead....

Enjoy
Ctefeh

My 2c

What are you going to bolt these onto??

For the same money as a kit you can but these and then add some manifolds, filters and linkage

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WEBER-40-IDF-CARBURETORS-/290598903906?pt=Ricambi_e_A...
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-PORSCHE-DELLORTO-DRLA-40-CARBURETORS-/26083...

I doubt anything will be "bolt on"
The ebay ones you can get jetted the way you want.

The HPMX come as a set jetting that I dont like.
It then costs a fair bit to rejet

I'm currently going through an expensive world of pain trying to get used Webers to run right, so I would recommend buying new wherever possible!

I've had trouble with HPMX's, I won't recommend them.

Pab22

If you buy manifolds. linkage and filters from someone like Vintage or Classic and the Dellortos off Alfa1750 on ebay you will have change from $1,000.00 and you will have a quality setup

Your call

What size motor is this for??
If a 1600-1916 you can always go the 2nd hand Kadron route for $500ish
There is a set on the for sales at the moment.
