Not sure if he's still doing them or not, but give Westi on this forum a try... I've got one of his 1 5/8 merged systems on my car and have been
very happy with it.
I also have a sidewinder set up to put on to try and get a bit more ground clearance, but as yet it's sitting with the rest of my "shelf
collection" for when I get a rountuit...

After a quick phone call to the engine builder to voice my concerns..you are correct Hellbugged..the 1'3/4 is too big and the 1 and 5/8s is what I
need..Ive found an alternative system anyway. Its a pity because the CB system looked really nice..just wrong size

No worries, I thought you might have changed the motor to a 8000rpm screamer!

I'm pretty happy with whatever system your/my engine builder fitted to my 1916. I just wish I new what was fitted. Still waiting for the itemised
invoice. (Good engine builder, perhaps not so good at paperwork). But the exhaust has a completely different note to the old extractors and seems to
work well. Ground clearance can be an issue though, so a bit reluctant to lower the rear too much. Wasn't real expensive either.

Was it ceramic coated with a phatboy muffler sbug71?..probably a scat phat boy system.Im buying mine from IMPARTS where Splitmeister works..I think
all of the guys at IMPARTS know the Debiasis?..so you probably have the same system
..put up a pic of the exhaust I might be able too tell..Glad to hear you're happy with the engine.Never heard a bad word. I have 3 volkswagen
specialists around my area but would rather trailer my car to Peter and get an engine built to what I want..instead of a workshop preaching me to keep
it standard or we wont touch it!..PFFFT!..see ya later..Im the customer!!!
While pulling the motor out I realised how much of a bitza the motor is..different heads, loose manifold bolts, loose bellhousing bolts, repair pushrod
tubes..I think the previous workshop just did the bare minimum and didnt give a shit because the owner was female (my wife).IMO

Yeah. I've had the "keep it standard" line with this bug and my last one. I don't know if it's laziness or lack of knowledge.
I'm pretty sure I've got the phat boy system and it seems pretty good.
There's at least 2 VW dudes within 10 mins of my place but one won't do anything outside of standard and the other charges the world for second hand
parts that are 40 years old and have been sitting outside in Adelaide weather for the last 20 years.

Yeah I know what you mean!..I went to V&T motors on O'Sullivans Beach Road to ask for a replacement bonnet (before I bought one off this forum)
as the wifes was rusted out. He took me out the back and said "Ive found one"..So i step into this little rusted out out-house and he pulls out a
completely bare metalled and rusted Super beetle bonnet with half migged in rust repairs..Pfft!..thanks for wasting my time buddy!..lol
My wife when I just met her used to take her car to a german guy up at blackwood near MV Automatics..He would verbally yell at her if she didnt look
after her car and talked to her like she was incompitent..in the end she was too scared to take her car there!!..Never went back there after
that..obviously the 3rd reicht is alive and well in some vw mechanics..ha ha!

What specs did you build your 1916 to? Be interested to compare it to mine. Im running an Empi System on Mine... Phat boy ceramic coated etc as well.
Love the look and the sound. Mine was sourced from America directly...

I believe the motor will be something like CB Performance heads 1916cc,scat c35 cam, twin 40mm HPMXs,Compufire direct fire ignition using a gutted empi
009 centrifugal dizzy, brand of pistons/barrels and crank..dont know yet..have to speak to Peter as for case?..depends if the wifes original case is
good or shite..straight cut gears..oil pump?..dunno..lol gotta discuss with Peter..either way it will be better than the 1500SP with a fucked
stud,leaking like a seive packing + or - 30hp!!

Hey Snitz
Just been reading through this post again and was wondering about this Imparts mob. Never heard of them but wondering what sort of VW stuff they've
got and whereabouts they are located. I'm desperately looking for somewhere in Adelaide to buy parts and get advice. I've bought some parts from
interstate over the phone and am not completely happy with the quality mainly because I haven't been able to view the parts first and am not always
aware that there is other manufacturers that offer different quality at different prices.
Cheers

Hey sbug71 IMPARTS is on South road, Hilton.Next to Gerace Restorations and the Harvey Norman seconds shop..So if your heading south on south road,
you go over Sir Donald Bradman and is not far on the left after that.
Speak to Andrew there him and his boss are VW heads and can source parts..in terms of the range they can get in..I am unsure.
Failing that when the Aussie dollar is good again buy from http://www.cip1.com in the
states. Their site shows pics of everything and they stock cheap parts aswell and German seals etc. You need to scan a copy of your licence for
security reasons and proof of ID to them but after that they are super quick with 3-4 days at the most for California to SA.Keep your orders under
$1000 too so you avoid taxes..cheers Jason

Thanks for the info. I'll head down and have a look at Imparts when I get a chance. I'll also check out the mob in California on the inter-webs.
Cheers.
