Advice/tips needed - re dipstick
Hi all,
I have noticed an oil leak on my tin ware, and down near the pulley.
Issue I have now is the oil is leaking onto my brand new exhaust.
I have been trying to identify where the leak has been coming from.
Today I discovered where! The dipstick. I kept checking and pushing it back in(only a couple of mm maybe but seems enough for the oil to get out
of).
If I drive like a gradma it's ok, when I am playing with bikes or just getting up it, I think the dipstick is being pushed up, as there is too much
pressure maybe.
It is one I got from classic - a chrome one with a ring pull. STD look.
It seems quite firm to push in, but there maybe to much pressure in the 2332cc and it's being pushed out. Only a fraction but it seems enough.
Has any one got any ideas of what I can do to fix the issue?

What sort of breather set up do you have on the 2332??
My guess is not enough

Hi Bizarre and Matt,
I am not to tech minded so not sure - happy to have a look if you can tell me what to look for?
I had the engine built not long ago. some of you may remember.
Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I have no oil cooler yet as I will be getting it when I have the 1st service.
The old one oil cooler split the morning i was picking up the car from the mechanic and I couldn't what for the car any longer - although after today
I think i may need it soon - the temp got high (up to 240 at one stage of the freeway - and then when I was passing a bike on the old pac hwy back
from Brooklyn it was back up there but came down straight away when I slowed down) - but I was having the issue even when the engine was cold.

What breathers are on your engine now?
It wont have anything to do with the missing cooler, 240 F without a cooler is time to slow down, are you running on 98 octane?

Hi Matt,
Yes running 98 octane,
when I saw 240 F on the freeway I slowed down to 100km/h and it sat just above the 210 mark, ( I was sitting around 115km/h - just under 4000 rpm)
When I saw 240 F while playing I slowed down as well. - it did come down to 210 quite quickly I thought, then when i was running between 60 & 80
came down to around 200 or so.
Pardon my complete ignorance where should I look and what should I see or not see - re the breathers.

Not sure on Mikes beliefs, but I like to fit extra crankcase breathers on anything over stock. The increased rpms and larger bore put increased
demands on the seals keeping the oil inside your engine. Hoses are fitted to the tappet covers and/or the crankcase and routed to a breather box with
a filter to keep out the dirt. Larger hoses and more of them are required for bigger engines. My 3 litre has 3 x 3/4" or -12 hoses that vent to the
dry sump tank, but most use a breather box system

Hi Matt,
just had a quick look in the engine bay and noticed out of the oil filler there is a hose running to a t piece then 1 side leads to a filter and the
other back through the firewall.
Also noticed on the tappet covers hose running back through the firewall.
and on the crankcase 1 hose going to the bottom of the oil filter and the other going to the top (this hose has a 1400psi ratting (if that means
anything to you
Unfortunately my oil pressure guage is not working - need to some how check if its the sender or the guage (not sure how to check this)

To check the guage, just ground the wire that attaches to the sender, guage needle should swing all the way to full, if it does that then check the
connections at the sender. Ensure there is no threadtape on the sender threads as the unit earths through them and can insulate with too much tape.
