Front Seat Belt Harness- Early Oval Beetle

Hi All,

I have a 54/55 Oval, with no seat belts as per the factory.

I am not comfortable driving this, so am thinking of a period style front harness set-up. I have emailed Simpson as they are a period-style that I like, but heard nothing back.

Has anyone reading this thread installed a harness to a Beetle? If so, what did you use, where did you purchase it, problems encoutnered and who installed it? (given that it should be engineered- I am in Melbourne!)

Cheers

Craig

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I have seen the bad side of serious car accidents being an Ambulance Paramedic, and the results with seat belts worn and not (though seat belts aren't always the answer).

It is for this reason that I am wanting to travel as safe as possible and install belts, the harness is just preference for looks. As h rightly said 'you have to look out for the other tools', but that is not always fool proof as per many accidents I have attended and we have all seen on the news...

Cheers

Craig
