Engine Inspection Light

Okay,

So I have just bought a 1997 Polo from a private seller, which is in great condition.

My problem is that the INSP light under the odometer is flashing, and continues to for about 3kms, before going off.

Her son, apparently, has just changed the oil and filter, as well as the pollen filter (I have the reciept), and I am just wondering whether he has forgotten to switch this off (somehow) or whether there is actually something wrong with the engine.

Can someone please shed some light?

Cheers,

w.

Hi there

I am guessing it is the service light and that can only be turned off by some one with the "propper" computer - ie generally a VW service mechanic

with ignition off hold down the button under the speedo , turn ignition on while holding the button in then turn the button under the clock to the right. This will bring up 3 or 4 dashes then repeat for oil service.
If it has gotten up to far in klms then a scan tool is required.
