What cave have you been hiding in? http://www.subarugears.com/

This would be cheaper and stronger than staying with a VW box

why stop at 2000?

go all the way to 1500, its diesel after all

I rang him ages back as this is local to me, but I can't remember his name. The number is from the local Pocket Trader where he had it advertised.

Very very interesting thread.

I've been keen on this type of project in a Baja with a Subi box.

The cost is beyond me. I did find a motor bit as usual no coinage.

I will chase this up in the future but for now in happy with my 1600.

Here's a subi diesel installed in a T3 synchro. The build is amazing. The guy is going all out to make a bullet proof camper and he has the skills and equipment to do it.

Thanks Matt. It would be good to see if it has been done in a beetle or ghia.

There's one being built at Vintage Vee Dub in Sydney. EE20 and Subarugears turbo 5 speed into a beetle. Long term project though....
