I've heard somewhere that the rule for RWC certificates is: your car must comply with whatever laws were in place at the time the car was originally built.

My 1960 bug has squirters, maybe they were retro-fitted, but they look like a factory job.

It also passed RWC without seatbelts.

So, if a car has been continuisly regestered since it was new , and it came from the factory without seatbelts what's the go?
I've been told by a place that does RWC's that seatbelts are required by law, and they must be fitted, but I have also been told the opposite.

Whatever the car came with is the go.

If it didn't have seatbelts fitted you don't need em.

But, if it has seat belts fitted in it you must wear them.

I had a FC Holden standard once. These didn't even have blinkers, so that was even fine.

Even if a car didn't originally have seatbelts, they're probably a good idea.
