Hyperthetically what is it worth???
So I have a Bay window Panel van with a toyota 4AGE 100kw conversion. Its complete and running with the factory JDM Efi and computer. I'm running a
Honda racing radiator between the rails with a complete bolt in staino/acrylic laminate scoop and cowling.
Im Thinking of going back aircooled, what would this conversion be worth, and is anyone possibly interested before it goes to the ebay???
This woiuld be a sweet motor for a baja or rail or even another kombi.

sell it to the Toyota guys
then buy a motor off of the Subaru guys, way way better then a type 4 turbo.
even add Air/conditioning to your bus.

If I was you I would seriously consider leaving the motor in there! Building the type 4 engine will cost you many thousands more than you will make on
selling the 4AGE. I would think that it would be difficult to get more than $3000-$4000 for it. A turbo Type 4 build is going to set you back at least
double that amount I would think!

thanks for all the great advice.
I think ill try putting a 1600 box behind the 4age before i make my final decision.
money isnt reaaly the issue, more driveability and being a little different if i can.

I agree, type 4 would be a winner in this case even it it costs way more than other engines. I would love a type 4 engine if ....?..... yeah I just
want one.
torque is awesome!

The way I see it is.... The 4age lacks low end tourqe so the 3 rib box should get it moving a little easier... These engines aren't scared to rev so
in theory it should still handle the freeway trip too!
Failing that back to type 4 tourqeyness!
All in good fun!
One way or another I'm trying to get the bus ready for Wsid in Feb!

depends HUGELY on what generation 4age it is.
for my celica, i bought a jdm gen 2 3sge with ecu and loom for $800 (low km as well) [Well actually it was two from a guy whose projects fell through, and sold the spare for the same price so in turn my motor was free lol].
That was a bargain, as they usually go for $1200 - $1500 from the importers on egay.
Given that you have the adapter plates and radiator, add another couple of hundred. but in total, the engine itself wouldn't attract much more than
that to the person who looks around at the market price.
if it was a 4agze then i can see it being more sort after. Then again, 3sgte fetches $1800+
As you may or may not be aware, the 3sge and 4age series are related closely being Toyota small 4 cylinders, both Yamaha performance turned. Cept the
3s are larger in capacity and younger, but are like mechanical 'brothers'.
Ebay is a a great gauge to see the value of such in the market.
Be aware that these prices are for 'low km' donks, and a relatively fresh.
Personally i would love your engine setup. If i had the cash, i'd offer ya $1500 for the lot. If the motors been around and not low km, i'd feel
that was fair. Now... if only i had $1500 to spare lol...
wikipedia will help you deterimine what gen if you are unsure. Younger 4age's are worth more of course (ebay has gen 4 halfcut from 1991-1995 for
$1650). Earlier unrevised 4age's from the 80's get substantially less (there is an early 4age on ebay with only $61 on the biddin with 24 hrs left
to go).

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears.
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

Thanks Chris.
My motor is the third generation 16v engine. Most people refer to it as a red top or small port. Kms are low and it is out of a ae92 gti corolla. This
motor in theory is around 100kw.

If I was to sell it it would come with everthing:
* motor with cut/shut inlet manifold
* Sherman adapter
* Kennedy stage two clutch 228mm
* computer and loom
* vl turbo fuel pump and surge tank.
* full exhaust system ready to bolt into a bay window bus
* radiator, piping and the cowling for belly mount install
Pretty much id be selling a complete conversion. Not just an unfinished project.
