1500-1600 compatability


Can 1 . . .

but a 1600 ....
-flywheel
-clutch assy
-dizzy (maybe not ??)
-leads
-exhaust

onto a 1500 engine?

They should all fit


1500 & 1600 engines had the same flywheel (200mm), and can use the same dizzy leads exhaust etc.

As for the exhaust well you may have two risers for the pre-heat tubes and may have to block one off thats all I think

The main differences being: Single port 1500 - to the - dual Port 1600 - so the inlet manifold will be different.. Distributors are interchangeable... etc... no problems Adz as far as I can see.... Are You talking about a 1600 to 1500 in a Beetle? or type 3 ?

have the 1500 here and putting all the good bits fromn the 1600 in the new beetle on it and sticking it in

my main worry was the flywheel
