17 inch wheels


Would anybody know the modifications needed to fit a set of 17inch escras to a 61 beetle.

Hi

I don't think that you can buy them in your wide 5 stud pattern. So you would need to fit a front disc brake conversion and 1500/super bug rear drums, in the correct bolt pattern.

I'm not sure what offset you would need.

you could buy blank drums and have them drilled to suit the stud pattern of the rims, legal and a cheaper alternative.

a narrowed beam would help but with the correct tyre size they should bolt straight on

Escras only come in 205mmpcd so they will bolt up to the car, if you lower the car you will need to do a narrowed beam and careful choice of tyres. Here is a photo od a car i helped build for a mate.

I have 17" wheels on my early car, if you narrow the beam how do you turn around a corner, the smallest tyre is a 205 section, that is what i run, it just clears the front panels behind the wheels on lock and i run 2" over size guards.

No idea, they fit fine, and didnt have any issue getting them fitted ... 185mm = 7.283inches ...... thats it im going for the 165/35/17 option !!!!i cant have tyres that are legal on my car!!!!:lol:
