Idea's appreceated

Hello all. I just bought a 1970 Beetle and the only rust is in the front deck. I am adding some photographs to give you an idea. I guess the best way is to cut out the old and weld in the new. Can you buy panels for this area, such as the spare tyre well? Also could you replace the 1970 deck with it's upright spare wheel well with a super-bug with it's flat laying spare wheel well? I am only new to vdubs so please excuse my ignorance. I live at Mudgee in NSW if anyones reading this and lives around the area.

Thanking you all.

You're excused ;)

You'd be better off buying a new apron they are readily available from any of the major parts suppliers.
That bug has had a bit of a whack in the front by how off skew that apron is sitting so it may need straightening in the inner guards.

You cant change to superbug spare wheel well, the tyre lays flat because of the different suspension layout.
Standard bugs have the spare sitting upright as the beam is in the way.

Hmm... at a guess looks like has hit in the front left, and bumper brackets have shifted everything back slightly.

For a 1970 you can buy the front apron that runs across the front under the bonnet no probs - you can buy virtually any panel really.

Before buying any panels tho, give it a good clean up and see how much rust vs metal you've got, and go from there.

:tu:

Grafting in a super beetle front isn't really possible cos of the different suspension systems... take a look behind a wheel and under the fuel tank, and you'll see why.

Any idea where I can get a new apron from Joel? I'll take any recommendations.
