TCS_58 bug build
Hey guys, very new to the forum and glad to be here. I just bought my first beetle and I have to decided to rebuild most of it. It's a 58, I have no
idea what kind of parts has been used on it but it looked the part and from what I could tell, was a good buy. Plans are a 5 speed box of some sort
(porshe or other) or a 4 speed bus box that can handle the power, which hopefully will be around the 300HP mark.
Probably going the IRS route too, and last of all, a bridge ported 13B, hopefully a 6 port, NA. Like i said, Im very new and the search button is
getting a work out but should you have any links or info that would help me along, I'd really appreciate the input as the build time is limited to 10
months.
Chees, Brett

Cheers lads but I'm already onto that one! I'd love some info on
the types of boxes I can slot in my 58, thats the biggest decider in what goes in the car pretty much. I've read that a bus box can fit with a
conversion kit of sorts but the figures I've heard are around the 7k mark.. hardly seems worth it unless you're going all out.

Well I thought I'd give everyone an update... Spoke to the builder I've chosen for the engine side of things and we have settled on a S6 turbo
motor. We'll be modifying the motor a bit as we're taking the turbo out of the equation and running higher compression rotors, probably out of an
RX8. Will be a full rebuild and balance job with a full bridgeport running a microtech ECU with injection. It will be built to run on 98 octane and
hopefully with a decent flowing exhaust will be pushing 230-280HP at the wheels.
Todd from Subaru gears will be building the box which will be one on his excellent hybrid turbo boxes, I honestly can't thank Todd enough for his
help with this side of things. Definately a top notch guy and service, highly recommended to all those wanting modern drivetrain equipment in a
classic VW!
I'm seriously considering keeping the body just the way it is but with the rear guards pumped out a little more as there will be some serious rubber
at the back. I just can't decide on whether to lower it like all hell and keep it that way or to run airbags... I've been told many times NOT to run
airbags on a performance car as it does you no favours, what do you guys think..?
