crash fixups

i had a small tap in the front of my 72 single cab ute and took it to a repairer to get a quote, well the front clip was imposable to get so he asked me if i would except a highlight clip i politely declined so next time i droped in he had a deal for me he would fit a high light and convert it to alowligfht talk about a good panel boy.
the deal was to remove all of the tin and weld in steel where it needed it from rust some you could see and than put on the high light clip and paint the lot ,when i got the quote i nearly fell over $2500.00 and he is a well known painter for the early cars he took me out back and showed me his work and a phone number of a cliant to call and make a date to see with the owner
a real old school guy do it once and do it right just thought i would pass it on and let others know there are good men in the world

Fronts....

I am in the process of doing that with my 70 dualcab, but probably a bit more substantial as I have had to replace an A pillar, full front floor and fix up some chassis rust. I have ordered the front panels ($325) for the complete lowlight kit with the blanking plates and then have to fit up and paint.. The boat doesnt get in until late january so I have a bit of time to do the fiddly things.

I am doing all the work myself and whilst part of me thinks $2500 is a fair bit for the work, I then remember all the work so far and the price doesnt seem so bad, but that said a lot of my time has been spent fixing the floors and doglegs.

Post some photos up of the process if you get the chance.

Good luck with it.

Peter

Sounds like a steal... Price out the labour to an hourly rate and I bet it's well below $50/hr.

It's good to see people in the industry who aren't out to gouge every customers. And doubly good if he knows what he is doing too !!!!
