VW shops/reckers SA

Hi everyone, just wondering if there are any VW reckers or parts shops in Adelaide?
Cheers Rusty

Cheers, well there isn't anything in particular, my dad, sister and I are heading over to Adelaide in March and I had an idea to fill in time, and that was to have a look at a vw shop or recker for some small items for my beetle.
Cheers Rusty.

I think if you search under "Wreckers" in the yellow pages you might find something?

Just be prepared to not feel a great deal of love from Paul at Volksfactory - he's not much of a talker (ie he's unlikely to want to sit and talk to you for more than a minute or two), and certainly didn't make me feel too welcome when I turned up in his shop to buy a specific part, let alone to just pop in and fill in some time/have a browse.

Left me with such a poor impression (my wife was with me too and was taken back) that I now buy my parts from interstate such as Mick Motors, and wait an extra few days rather than buy locally here.

Sorry, just warning you out rather than turning up and expecting a smiling face and a browse around the place.

I agree with AyeBee, had the same problems, always buy interstate as there are NO decent parts places in Adelaide.

Aha I love that comment Black64, so true.

Best place to go first in Adelaide for a chat and browse is GHR. If they aren't busy they'll love the chat :)

I will be in Adelaide from either 23-4th to the 26th, would be great if it were that weekend.
Cheers Rusty.

Nothing has changed - things were thus in the early 90's, but in those days Millers were just around the corner, and the service and support there were great.

I've had the Golf V, Polo and before that the Green T4 and the Golf III CL serviced at the Volksfactory.

I cannot question the assistance I get, the quality of work or the price.

From what I've heard, they don't want to do anything air cooled anymore.

Seems like they're just no generating enough cash from the air cooled stuff and are just focusing on water cooled now.
See quite a few Golfs in there all the time now.

They still do aircooled stuff but demand is really low these days.

I've heard they've actually turned away a couple of people that have wanted their Type 1's serviced.

I guess they just want to focus on more watercooled stuff.

Apologies to my 76 bay, I think we are a getting a bit off topic here. But I feel I need to clear up a few things here.
I spoke to Paul this morning and they do not turn aircooled away. Quite the opposite,in fact.
They will, however, advise ANY customer when it is not practical to repair their car. Regardless of any make, model etc.
This I would consider ethical business, something which is becoming hard to find.

Paul can be a bit hard to get to know, but it's worth the effort.
He has been a great help to me.

The watercooled stuff has, however, become the mainstay of their business now along with Audi.
