I believe a few individuals are still going, but no, Club Veedub is not involved this year (nor is the Classic and Vintage VW club).
The reason is the unacceptable way we were treated last year by the little Hitlers of the Sydney City Council, and the Australia Day Council.
* On a 32 deg hot sunny day, with young children, we were not allowed to put up shade marquees and were told to take ours down. We had to be there
from 7am to 4pm with no shade allowed. Nor shelter if it had rained.
* We were not allowed to use the prefab council toilets in Hyde Park (these were guarded by a Council Officer), so we and our kids had to use stinking
portaloos with nowhere for kids to wash their hands.
* On complaining to the officials we were told that we were 'privileged' to be allowed to display our VWs on Australia Day. This was unacceptable.
We said that was wrong, it was the other way around. THEY were privileged we gave up our day to support their event, as without classic car owners
they would have no show.
I later wrote to the NRMA (no reply) and the Sydney City Council (no reply). The CMC did reply but said as it was not their event there was nothing
they could do. The CMC did say that several of their other clubs were also unhappy and probably wouln't participate in 2012.
After displaying my VWs there for years, I'm going to do something different this year. I hear that Parramatta Park has some great family activities
on Australia Day. And Clover Moore can get stuffed.

Wow ok, I had never been before. Always wanted to go. But maybe not now.
So true though, with out the cars and the people who bring them there and their families, there is no show.
Thanks for the heads up mate

The Manx Club had a bad experience with the RACQ Motorfest in 2010. We were place miles away from everyone else, and weren't going to return in 2011.
The organizers rang up to find out why we hadn't entered for 2011 and I explained our poor experience. Two days later I heard back from them having
sorted everthing out and we showed in 2011 and had a great time. So thumbs up to the RACQ organizers for sorting out any problems and issues entrants
had.

I hope the NRMA tries to do something about it, but in our case the NRMA is subservient to the City of Sydney Council who make the rules. I can't see
anything changing. Those who display tomorrow will have to stand in the rain all day, as no shelters are allowed.
I'm not even going to Parramatta now. Will stay home and watch the cricket.
