Engine mods, wat stays wat goes?


Learner on the loose with wat may be a dumb question but. When upgrading an engines performance eg taking a 1600 engine up to 2180, running twin Webbers & installing a set of extractors & associated plumbing, wat happens to the original plumbing, heat exchangers, heater channells & pre-heater pipe etc? Is comfort sacrificed for increased performance (who needs heat when u have power)?

most often that is what happens yes!........however you can get high flow/large diameter heater boxes quite redily now, so heat is certainly an option.

If starting from scratch on an engine build, i would spend the extra $$$ and get the heaters going

How about the pre-heater pipe, i assume its not needed with the new carby set up? After all, its function is to warm the fuel in very cold conditions? Ps i hate cold weather anyway!

Actually the pre heater pipe is to keep the fuel in suspension on the long runners of the centre mounted carb

This can happen in warm conditions as well

They will be required (well... certainly preferred) if running a single carb.

If running dual carbs - they are not needed because of the short manifolds
