Ghia headlights

Hey veedubbers,

I'm looking for headlights for my 71 ghia., are they just a standard size headlight or are they a specific size for the ghia?

Thanks in advance

Ghia headlight assemblies are specific to the ghia, they are a different size to all the other VW headlights ( ie beetle, bus, type 3 ).
US spec ghias came with sealed beam units, which I suspect your 71 would have had, and the sealed beam can be bought aftermarket ( ?? 7 inch diameter) but the holding unit and chrome dress ring are ghia specific ( but easy to find in the US).

If your not hung up on originality or have been scared off by the price of original KG headlights, you can use Mini headlights with sealed beams. They look much better than a H4 Golf/beetle lense as they are curved and flat. Best of all they can be gotten new for very little. I had them on my old 61 Ghia whilst I was sourcing a RHD cracked original headlight lense.

Hi

they are common variety sealed beams [curved convex glass]
7 inch size...

You can get Hella H4 sealed Beams that are also rounded
with convex glass...

Semi sealed beams normally are flat glass or nearly flat whereas sealed beams are convex like genuine Karmann Ghia headlamps...

whatever You get, You will need two the same...

Thankks guys I appreciate the help.

These seem like a good deal as they have a replaceable h4globe and also have a curved glass surface, what do you think?
